You’re Invited to the Illinois Writing Project Writing Palooza 2023!
WHAT IS THE WRITING PALOOZA?
● The Writing Palooza is a celebration of writing. It’s an all-day conference for student writers, including a keynote talk followed by a variety of breakout sessions from which to choose.
● This year’s event also culminates a year-long grant project focused on lifting up student and community voices to document the stories of Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood.
● Breakout sessions will include collecting and documenting local histories; exploring one’s own identity and writing one’s own story; poetry, music, and song; and other areas of expression. All are suitable for students (and teachers!) from all over Chicagoland.
● There is no cost for this event, but registration is required. Light breakfast and box lunches will be provided for all who attend: students, teachers, family, and guests alike.
WHEN and WHERE WILL IT BE?
● SATURDAY, MARCH 4 8:30am-2:30pm
● NEIU’s Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, 700 East Oakwood Blvd, Chicago
